OM Lab

Challenge: Create an interactive experience in which visitors contribute their voices to the largest ever collective chant of OM

Strategy: Invite visitors to be a part of something greater than themselves by connecting the “one” to the “many” using science-inspired visuals

concept development

I led the project with the acronymic concept One/Many, from which I developed the tagline "One sound, many voices."

Stacking the O and M formed “ONE” individual figure, while rotating the stacked OM created the “MANY” of the collective OM. The pattern feels atomic, implying the way OM is thought to comprise the fabric of the universe.

video and animation

Animated versions of the pattern played in the museum lobby and tagged a series of promotional videos in which well-known figures shared their personal practice with OM.

An installation in the storefront windows gave visitors a chance to hear chanted OMs, while OM Lab merchandise was available in the museum shop.
